The catalogue of Yobel icons, presented by Weekend a Firenze, is oriented towards the works of art that are linked to this much-envied city, which is the capital of all artistic inspiration.Yobel creates modern icons by applying photochromy images or prints to carefully treated wooden or MDF panels. Many works are embellished with gold or silver leaf to enhance their featured subjects. The special ageing process, which uses a cracking technique taken from old Florentine recipes, adds a unique touch to each piece and, at the same time, preserves it through time. Each piece is entirely handmade. This art form was learnt in the workshop of a great Florentine master craftsman who has passed on both his secrets and his passion for this work. The patient research for woods, images, new products, and the ideal ambience makes this art form an activity that has been able to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques.
