Dècoupage is a decorative technique that consists un cutting, composing, pasting and fixing with transparent varnish, images of any kind to an object. This object, thanks to the various coats of varnish and paper, seems to be painted. It is possible, in this way, to renew old objects or furniture pesonalizing them, making fit perfectly in the ambient they will be in, or to create elegant home accessories from any material: pasteboard, wood, terracotta, iron, ceramics, glass, fabrics...even on the walls! This art, born in Europe, was very successful in Italy (known as lacca contraffatta or arte povera) thanks to the Venetian furniture makers that, following the requests of lacquered furnitures of all Europe, started cutting, painting and lacquering printed images.
