The Award Committee's evaluation is purely subjective. We LOVE originality, good HTML syntax, cool fast-loading graphics, navigational fluidity, interesting features, and links to useful resources ~ we HATE tables with thick borders, obtrusive backgrounds, and obnoxiously large images and logos.

Experience:

This is the key rating. Is this fun? Is it worth the time? Will we recommend it to friends? All things considered, does this site deliver the goods?

Pages/sites are rated on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best. of course.
Page/site design actually plays the least role in the over-all rating of a page/site.
A page/site that garners a rating of 10 has much more going for it than a snappy design, and, or a fast connection.

1. It must have more than a collection of links.
2. It must have at least 200 people a day visit the site.
3. It must be updated at least once a month.

I have seen many definitions of what other people consider Excellence to be. Some are very specific while others are nothing more than having a page that is readable.
From these various definitions, I have culled out what I feel is a reasonable guideline.

• Have something to say.
• Provide your visitor with something more than links.
• Text must be readable.
• A good text/link/background scheme (pleasing to look at)
• Use of graphics that add to the page subject.
• The page should be viewable in the 640x480 mode without horizontal scrolling if possible.
• Menus are good... I like to know what is offered and where to find things.
• Your page should be ready for "prime time." No construction signs, links to construction signs, or "File not found" errors to internal links.
• If frames are used, there should be a "NO FRAMES" option.
• Unlike many other Awards, I will not attempt to censor you by insisting that your site to be suitable to children, I do draw the line at outright pornography however (HINT: a disclaimer or warning of content would not be considered inappropriate).
