LANDSCAPES OF MEMORY
The pictures chosen from the Alinari photographic archives offer a new interpretation of the Province of Milan and its territory, retrieving the places of the mind and the significance of memory in a time of disorientation and the ensuing sense of profound insecurity. What we rediscover in these pictures is history and geography, the traditions of work, environment and physical spaces, the roots, the paradigm of the daily activities, the prospects which open towards the future. The photographical documents presented are therefore more than simply photographs. As expressions of art they enhance our perception of reality and call forth a feeling for the beautiful that favors a process of self-identification .This identity of self, as individuals and as a community, allows us to understand the other and the elsewhere, and, strong in our awareness, makes us the leading actors of this change.
