A journey to the Orient through the photographic lens of two great 19th-century masters, the brothers Felice and Antonio Beato. Their photographs represent the most fascinating interpretation of the oriental environment and atmospheres of the second half of the 19th century: the pictures realised by Antonio Beato during his long stay in Egypt are extraordinary - archaeological and ethnographic - documents, just as the photographs taken by Felice Beato in Japan are the most extraordinary proof of the refined photographic and pictorial quality achieved by certain authors in the history of 19thcentury photography.
