GIANNI BORGHESAN
A monograph dedicated to Gianni Borghesan, a neorealist photographer who occupied an essential place in the history of Italian photography during the postwar period. The environment and the inhabitants of Friuli are clearly described in Borghesan?’s explicit images. These document in exemplary manner the progressive and inexorable transformation of a habitat during the past thirty years; but also provide pictures that help to understand the history of Friuli?’s peasants, in which the desperation, humility, and dignity of the people are rendered with extraordinary lucidity, thanks to Borghesan?’s poetic sensitivity.
