PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE MILITARY INSTITUTIONS
The volume proposes to fill the gap in photographic historiography which for a long time has not raised the problem of systematising the analysis of the materials born from the meeting between photography and the military world. From portraits to souvenir photos, from the emphatic, commemorative pictures snapped by military photographers to photographs denouncing the horrors of war; from war reports to the documentary photos of military technique: the critical historical path that is traced narrates and classifies the various aspects of military life, through the pictures of illustrious photographers and numerous amateurs from the 19th century up to our day.
