Dedicated to the albums of the 1914-1918 War realised by King Vittorio Emanuele III for his son Umberto, this volume presents many motives of interest. But above all we must consider the historical value of this unpublished collection, recognised by the person who more than any other had available to him and could collect together materials on the war events and, more in general, on the historic panorama of the entire period. An underlying theme is represented by the photos taken by the King, in which the war does not appear to be a tragic and traumatic event for a country, but rather the cross-section of an era and of its image, taken by a special observer.
