SCULPTURE AND PHOTOGRAPHY
The theme of the book is the complex relationship existing between the sculptural work and its photographic perception. Documented are the various possibilities for the use of photography, from the positivist meaning as an essential instrument for identification and classification, to its different valence as an ?eye? which, instead of proposing itself in its own - supposed - objectivity, opens up to unexpected and suggestive possibilities of interpretation of the works. For the modern age, works of Donatello, Andrea della Robbia, and Verrocchio up to Mochi, to the complex of the Loggia dei Lanzi and to the plaster casts of the Prisons in the little grotto in the Boboli gardens. For the 19th century, works of Bartolini, Rodin and Medardo Rosso. For the 20th century, works of Andreotti and Romanelli.
