FLORENCE: THE MONUMENT AND ITS DOUBLE
An imaginary itinerary that touches the principal monuments in Florence and its surrounding areas. The intention is to analyse the restorations that have ?“upset?” the city during the past century and a half. Through the more than 300 pictures that accompany the text, Dezzi Bardeschi illustrates the city and its monuments before and after their 19th /20th- century restorations, making Ruskin?’s thought - ?“restoration is the worst form of destruction, accompanied by a false description of the thing destroyed?” - his own.
