FLORENCE: MATERIALS AND COLORS
The volume wants to be - as Toraldo di Francia, one of the authors, writes - a sort of illustrated ?‘Atlas?’ of the masonry curtain of the streets and squares of Florence. The photos of Massimo Pacifico depict frontally the details of buildings, churches, palaces and offices, exalting the materials and typological design of the construction. These pictures are in turn proposed in a chronological sequence that, from Etruscan manufactures, leads to contemporary architecture. An important contribution to the recognition that the identity of a city is also given by its wall surfaces, by its materials, its treatments, its colours.
