MILANO
Through the suggestive photographs of the Alinari Archives and of many other photographers, who worked in more than a century of photographic documentation and the precise tests, these volumes narrate the past and present of Milan, the ?“navigli?” (canals) and the historic centre. This rediscovery of Milan responds to the growing need of its citizens to find their own roots and the values of tradition and the ?“common?” ones in the moment in which new perils are menacing this great city, which over the centuries has succeeded in winning all challenges. And it is precisely this challenge that we have set ourselves: to re-interpret the history, the economic, political and social life, the facts of tradition, and thus the evolution of a great European metropolis on the threshold of the new millennium.
