This is the first publishing series whose volumes are dedicated to the art of illuminated manuscripts. A publication dedicated to specialists, but also to the reader who" would like to satisfy many interests, since so many aspects of culture and human activity are involved within an illuminated codex," as its director, Maria Grazia Ciardi Dupré Dal Poggetto writes. Each issue of the journal - sometimes with a thematic character - contains specialised studies that will be useful in an interdisciplinary sense, open to the study of the codex since it constitutes the architectonic support in an organic and inseparable relationship, involving palaeographers and codicologists. The volumes are characterised in original manner from the point of view of graphics, since the graphic signs typical of the illuminated manuscript have been recuperated in a modern key. A new publishing format, but based on a thousand-year-old experience.
