Military research is the subject of this volume which illustrates the relationships between the army and science, starting from the Roman military tradition and arriving at the technological challenges of computer science. The essays and photographs illustrate the history of the Italian military industry and the civilian importance of military research and realisations, above all in the field of radio-communications and radio-navigation. The photographs document both the historical part, with a lavish system that draws on the most important Italian photographic archives, and also on instruments and modern applications in the scientific and military fields.
