THE WAKING UP OF A COLOSSUS
The monumental work of art realised by Giambologna for Francesco I de?’ Medici towards the end of the 16th century, the most important and significant element among the surviving ?‘wonders?’ of the Parco di Pratolino, has recently been the object of a demanding work of restoration which has made it possible to carry out a series of extremely interesting scientific and diagnostic investigations. This volume is dedicated to the results of those investigations and to the numerous methodologies of intervention identified for the preservation-type restoration operation on the ?“Colossus?”. It abounds in graphics and photographs illustrating the different phases of this complex restoration.
