THE PHOTOGRAPH IN POSTCARD
The idea for this first study on a new and important theme of the history of photography and of visual communications originated from a precious and unusual collection of more than 1500 postcards, datable from 1893 to our day, and dedicated to the representation and diffusion of photography through this particular medium. The works of successful designers such as Dudovich, Cappiello and Bompard, together with those by less well-known authors, illustrate the twelve thematic sections into which the different typologies of postcards have been divided: in the studio, on the beach, Eros, tourism, humour, infancy, fashion, etc. - but always with the photographic element as the sole common denominator.
