The facsimile reproduction of the precious photographic album realised in 1857 by the Florentine Semplicini, representing ?“Gli animali pił pregievoli dell?’Esposizione Agraria Toscana [the most precious animals in the Tuscan Agrarian Exhibition]?” offered the occasion for the realisation of this scientific volume. It deals with breeds, fairs and markets, agrarian competitions, and their evolution in time. On the one hand, the photographic historical analysis of Semplicini?’s precious and unique album; on the other, the precise and painstaking treatment of agrarian history in 19th-century Tuscany under the House of Lorraine.
