MEDICINE AND ANATHOMY
Ever since antiquity, anatomy has always been a subject of study on the part of artists. At the same time, it favoured the work of some artisans who, in order to meet the needs of scientists halfway, reproduced the forms of the human body in one-of-a-kind pieces that are genuine works of art. In view of its practical nature and faithfulness to the original, photography has in some ways caused the disappearance of these episodes. On the other hand, it has gone out of its way to serve science, by producing extraordinarily interesting pictures. The book presents the fruit of the iconographic research made both in the University archives and at the ?‘Fratelli Alinari?’ Museum of the History of Photography in Florence.
