SCENE FROM A CITY BY THE SEA
This city seems to have been taken from a fairy tale with its high pink towers and colored buildings. The city that Ambrogio Lorenzetti most probably wanted to represent is Talamone, the port of the Senese people in the region of Tuscany. This painting is also an important documantation of life at the time of Lorenzetti, in the 14th Century Siena. The artist in fact loved to paint scenes from real life with a particular attenction to details, thus showing us life at his time.
