THE ANNUNCIATION
This painting is one of the many Annunciations Beato Angelico painted. This one in particular was painted between 1424 and 1438 and is found in the Diocesan Museum of Cortona. It is one of the most beautifull painting on wod of italian art and shows an exquisite attitude of both Mary and the Angel in their precious dresses. Worth of a particular attention are the architecture and the care in the details of the flower on the grass painted on the left. Adam and Eve are leaving this garden, thus recalling the pureness of the creation of Christ. A nice detail is the one of the words pronounced by the Angel flying towards Mary, a typical feature of Gothic art. This painting was originally located in San Domenico church.
