The first in a series of three books which make up the first comprehensive documentation of the Palazzo Vecchio. The "Salone dei Cinquecento of Palazzo Vecchio" has been the center of the Florentine public life ever since its construction. It has been assembly hall in the years of the Republic, audience chamber, a theater, banqueting hall and a short period, as late as the 19th century, the seat of the Italian Parliament.
