LEONARDO DA VINCI
Leonardo was born in Vinci, a small village in Tuscany. His father was a notary and his mother Caterina later married a peasant. Leonardo was brought up with affection in his father's house. He was sent to study in Florence with a talented master of the time, Verrocchio. His apprenticeship ended in 1472 and he became a master in the Company of Painters. From here onwards his attraction to all artistic disciplines accompanied by scientific knowledge lead him on to a brilliant career.
