PIERO DELLA FRANCESCA
This artist worked in the 15th century. He lived for many years in Borgo San Sepolcro, away from a literary and artistic center (like Florence) and was almost ignored by all of his contemporaries. In 1550 Vasari wrote of this artist in his biography and more became known of him. Piero della Francesca is in fact responsible for the development of Italian Renaissance painting with the use he made of perspective and space, combined with light and dark and also the interest in nature (taken from the Netherlandish art). This guide is full of beautiful photos of paintings populated with real people and even their caricatures.
