5 CD. Most groups get one boxed set to mark their career. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel already have three, not to mention two greatest-hits discs. But this new set stands out. Collected Works simply regurgitated the duo's five studio albums. This set has both: all the original albums in their entirety, as well as 13 bonus tracks, six previously unissued. Remastering is immaculate, and the unearthed material is impressive. Though Bridge Over Troubled Water is widely hailed as their masterpiece, your best bet is 1968's Bookends, where the duo's pop-driven folk rock reached its zenith on the crest of their movie popularity from The Graduate. The packaging may change, but the quality stays the same. Simon's songs and the duo's delivery hold a classic niche in 1960s folk, not just to mark a generation's unrest, but also to touch hearts of any era with their simple yet eloquent romanticism.
